Doctor Who – First Doctor’s TARDIS

The TARDIS made its debut in the first Doctor Who story ‘An Unearthly Child’. The idea of travelling through time and space in what looked like a Police Box was revolutionary. The exterior TARDIS prop wasn’t an exact replica of a real Police Box.
It was designed by Peter Brachacki and was a little shorter and narrower than the real thing and didn’t have any door handles. The first version gained a new lamp in the second season but remained otherwise unchanged until the Fourth Season.
Master Replica’s model was built by Gavin Rymill. It is 1:21 scale and stands 130 mm tall to the top of the lamp.
